SICKLE CELL PRODIGY
About
Sickle Cell Prodigy
PR veteran, Wunmi Bakare, created the hashtag #SickleCellProdigy following the passing of rapper and advocate Prodigy, who died from complications of sickle cell disease in 2017. What started as an awareness campaign to celebrate the achievements of individuals living with sickle cell disease quickly grew into a global movement, showing the world that patients from every country and region are excelling in diverse industries.

By 2020, the #SickleCellProdigy trademark had become synonymous with raising awareness, making an impact, and building a lasting legacy through advocacy. In 2021, Sickle Cell Prodigy was formally established to drive this mission forward, creating a thriving online community for sickle cell advocates, warriors, and caregivers.

What sets Sickle Cell Prodigy apart is our unique approach to advocacy—erasing the stigma of sickle cell disease through proactive and reactive media engagement while educating the public in meaningful online conversations. Our efforts are simple - educate the public using evidence-based clinical information and drive change through online discourse. #SickleCellProdigy has accrued over 6,000 organic followers and our posts have reached over 262,000 users.
Through powerful storytelling, strategic collaborations, and impactful content, we continue to educate, inspire, and empower the global sickle cell community.
